While UK farmers are among the best in the world, farming remains one of our country’s most hazardous industries; accounting for 1.5% of workers but 15-20% of all worker fatalities (HSE). We’re the Farm Safety Foundation, an award-winning charity and we’re dedicated to raising awareness of farm safety among young farmers. Our focus is on preparing the next generation of farmers to be responsible, confident and safe farmers of the future and our ambition is clear – to find a way to stop farmers having life changing accidents and dying at work. We’re funding training at colleges throughout the UK to highlight the risks involved in farming and offer practical solutions to addressing these risks. We are also researching the attitudes to farm safety to discover how to challenge and change this risk-taking behaviour. And we’re sharing the work and advice of our farm safety partners.
