Where the money goes...
FareShare is the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste. The charity redistributes good food, which would otherwise go to waste, to frontline charities and community groups that support people in need. More than 10,500 charities and community groups receive food through FareShare. They provide a lifeline to vulnerable people by turning the food they receive into food parcels or meals for vulnerable families and individuals, many of whom are at risk of hunger, and struggling with unemployment, low income, debt, homelessness, family break up, dependency or other issues. https://fareshare.org.uk/
At least 3 million tonnes of edible food waste is generated by the UK food industry each year. At the same time, food poverty is a huge and growing problem, and almost 2 million children in the UK live in households that struggle to afford to buy enough fruit, vegetables, fish and other healthy foods. The Felix Project provides a free door-to-door service to collect surplus food from suppliers and deliver it to charities. In 2021, the charity provided food for 30,000,000 million meals working with hundreds of charities and suppliers, helping disadvantaged adults and children get access to high-quality food. https://thefelixproject.org/
