Pasted Graphic 4"We joined Pennies from Heaven in June 2007. Our corporate charity partners are always delighted to benefit from the scheme and because it is so easy to operate we use lots of opportunities to promote the initiative to colleagues. These range from explaining how it works during new starter inductions to highlighting the number of supporters and therefore how much has been raised when we provide CR progress reports at firm wide business briefings. Pennies from Heaven complements other ways in which we help colleagues who want to donate to charity“
Nicola Ellen, Corporate Responsibility Director

It is simple to understand, simple to join in and administer as well as a great example how collectively those odd pennies given by lots of colleagues makes a big difference. We are delighted to receive a gold award for the 2nd year in a row and hope the scheme will continue to grow from strength to strength.”
Jim Graham, Chief Executive Warwickshire County Council

yctPennies from Heaven is a fantastic initiative and we are delighted that LV= has nominated Youth Cancer Trust to be a beneficiary of the scheme. It is a great way for LV= employees to help our local charity on an on-going basis. A few pennies from a pay packet each month will soon mount up and help make a considerable difference to the services we provide for young people with cancer.

SNAPPennies from Heaven is a fantastic scheme. In a relatively painless way, LV= staff can make a regular donation to SNAP, which will help us provide vital services for families with children and young people who have special needs and disabilities. The individual donations may only be pennies but the combined total will have a real impact on what we are able to achieve.

Pennies from Heaven has been running at Mencap since July 2010. We run the scheme for our employees and it's one of the easiest ways for staff to raise vital funds so we can continue to support people with learning disabilities in the UK. Our staff already give us lots of their time above and beyond the call of duty, but they are truly committed and passionate about our work and donating their 'spare' payslip pennies is another, great way to contribute to our cause. Mencap staff help raise over £500 each month which is fantastic and we are extremely grateful for this.

Ellie Gray, Director of Fundraising and Development

HamesHopkinsDonations via Pennies from Heaven are important to us as it is a new income stream and yet is a simple low cost method for the donor. In these tough economic times the more varied the income streams we have the easier it is to maintain the level of service we provide to our children.

HertsAirAmbWe are delighted to be a nominated Charity for Pennies from Heaven, it is such a simple scheme and a really easy way for people to support their chosen Charity. The scheme is hugely beneficial to us as without direct Government funding we rely on the generosity and support of the people and businesses of Hertfordshire to help keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.

cruk_c_logoPennies from Heaven is a fantastic scheme as it allows people to make a real difference to our work, without having to make a big difference to their bank account. As a charity, 90% of the donations we receive are actually less than £10, and this is a perfect example of how little amounts can go a long way. It’s marvellous that something so easy and simple can ultimately help us to save lives. Sooner or later we will find cures for all cancers. Pennies from Heaven are helping us to make it sooner.

marie-curie-cancer-care-logoMarie Curie Cancer Care relies heavily on donations to enable us to maintain our vital services to local people with cancer. It costs £4.4 million a year to run the Marie Curie Hospice Liverpool, with less than 45% coming from the NHS, the rest being dependent on fundraising. The hospice provides specialist medical and nursing care, with the expert help of multi-disciplined healthcare professionals, to over 1,150 local cancer patients each year. We focus on providing the best possible quality of life for people with cancer and all services are provided free of charge to patients and their families. This excellent standard of care would simply not be possible without the support we receive from caring people like you. So, on behalf of all at Marie Curie Cancer Care, a heartfelt thank you to “Pennies From Heaven” for your generosity, it really is much appreciated.

Sharon Murphy. Marie Curie Hospice.
acorns-logoAcorns Children's Hospice is extremely grateful to have been a beneficiary of Pennies from Heaven for more than ten years. This simple initiative has provided us with vital funds to support local life limited and life threatened children and their families -  the amount raised to date could pay for a week of respite for a child where they will be given one-to-one care from experienced and skilled medical professionals in a relaxed and supportive environment while their family has a break from the challenges of caring for a life limited child.

Elinor Eustace. Acorns Children's Hospice.

actionaidPennies from Heaven is a simple and effective way of changing the lives of people all across the world. Through its support of ActionAid, the scheme has enabled communities to work their own way out of poverty – funding life-changing projects in education, healthcare and emergencies, as well as helping to give people a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. The scheme is a testament of the old truism - every penny really does count.  ActionAid has received over £100,000 from the scheme which could provide two new three-classroom primary schools in a remote area of Sierra Leone, complete with desks, books, black boards and chairs. The money could also help to improve the quality of life for more than 2,000 orphans and vulnerable children and their families, many of whom are living with, or have been affected by, HIV and AIDS in Zimbabwe or improve access to education for 800 children by disaster proofing a school and putting in flood preventing measures to protect the local community near the River Nyankotola in Malawi.

Liz Grant. Community Fundraising Manager.
mytonThe Myton Hospices are very fortunate to have been the beneficiaries of the Pennies from Heaven scheme, through which the staff at Warwickshire County Council have donated over £60,000. This is a tremendous amount of money which has had a significant impact on our work caring for local people who are living with, or affected by, a terminal illness.  It is a great way to support us, costing each person only a small amount each month, but as the total figure shows, it really does mount up. Around £10 can feed a patient for a day, £21 pays for an hour of our specialist nursing care, £300 pays for a weekend workshop for bereaved children and £1200 pays for one of our day hospices to open for a day.

David Pratt. Donor and Supporter Care Manager.
cruk_c_logoCancer Research UK would like to thank Pennies from Heaven for their continued support over the last 13 years. Since 1999 we have received £64,576 from employees donating their spare change from their payslips to fund our work.  This amount of money could help fund Rhabdomyosarcoma research, a type of children’s cancer. It costs £61,200 to run four years of a study looking for molecules important in driving tumour growth. This could lead to improved treatments and more children surviving the disease in the future.   Alternatively a donation of £10 buys enough glass slides for a scientist to examine 300 tumour samples down a microscope. Studying tumour samples in minute detail could reveal new causes of cancer or new ways to treat it.   Thank you to the Pennies from Heaven team and all the companies and employees that continue to support this scheme. Together we will beat cancer.

Lucy Squance. Corporate Acquisition Manager
On behalf of the team here at BHF I would like to say a huge thank you for the support of Pennies from Heaven and am delighted to hear that the scheme has raised the BHF a fantastic £54,547 from employees donating the spare change from their payslips. To give you a sense of what this means to heart patients, £55,000 could cover the cost of a portable ultrasound machine. In the UK someone has a heart attack every two minutes and there are 2.7million people living with heart disease. The funds Pennies from Heaven has helped to raise will enable the BHF to continue saving lives.

Peter Hollins. Chief Executive
macmillanMacmillan Cancer Support has been working with Pennies from Heaven since 1999. Through the scheme we have raised over £56,000 and I am delighted to say the annual donation is increasing year on year. It is a simple and efficient fundraising initiative we can offer our corporate partners and many are currently signed up to the scheme. It is a fantastic way for employees to support us, and we are grateful for their monthly donations.  Their pennies have turned into thousands of pounds for Macmillan supporting our work helping people affected by cancer. £49,711 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for an entire year, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.

Charles Byrne, Head of High Value for Macmillan Cancer Support
RNIBLogoRNIB is delighted to receive the generous support of so many employees through Pennies from Heaven. The donations we have received since 1999 have enabled us to continue our fantastic work supporting blind and partially sighted people and their families, friends and carers. Without these generous donations from supporters, we would not be able to run our valuable Eye Health Information Service, which provides information on eye conditions to people with sight loss, their carers, friends and family and intermediaries by telephone and email. Just £10 could help a mum continue to cook for her children with our range of giant print cookery book, £15 could help provide board games for blind and partially sighted children, so they can play with their friends and family and £30 could help train parents to teach braille, so that blind children can grow up to achieve the same as their peers in education and employment. Please continue to support the work of RNIB through donating your spare change to the Pennies from Heaven micro giving scheme in 2012.

Carly Mason. RNIB
Children’s Society
CHildrensThe valuable funds raised by Pennies from Heaven will help us support our 9 UK Runaways projects working with young people and their families and help raise awareness of the real dangers that young people can face. Just £5 could pay for a social activity session for a young person – running away and being targeted for sexual exploitation – letting them be children again, even for a few hours.

I would like to send my specific gratitude to you, your team and the folks at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Trust who so kindly supported us in this way. We sincerely hope you will consider us for support in the future.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is really pleased to benefit from the Pennies from Heaven initiative. This is a very simple mechanic and a perfect way to engage both new and existing supporters in a very effective way. Donations, big or small, will help the BHF save lives. Hospitality Action are delighted with the financial contribution to the charity via Pennies from Heaven. It is a simple yet effective way for employees to donate to their industry charity without even noticing the effect on their wageslip! If everyone in the industry adopted the scheme Hospitality Action would be able to help even more beneficiaries in their time of crisis.

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers is delighted to be one of the beneficiaries of Barclays Pennies from Heaven initiative.  This amazingly simple but hugely effective scheme and the income it provides is a lifeline to The Trust. Pennies from Heaven is an easy way for any employee to make a difference with the spare change from their monthly pay. As a simple fundraising scheme it fits very well as part of our wide range of programmes to support the charities that our employees care about. The Pennies from Heaven Scheme has generated a great deal of interest from staff and it has easily become the best-supported means for them to raise much-needed funds for our local charities. Through the scheme staff have raised over £8,500 for our local charities, which has increased to more than £10,500 when Government gift aid has been added. I am a great believer in this scheme, which is simple to administer, and I would highly recommend it to any employer.
