The Pennies from Heaven 2020 Awards.

Now in its eighth year the Pennies from Heaven Awards provide a perfect opportunity to propel your organisations charitable fundraising into the spotlight and showcase the great contributions your employees have made. Even though individuals have only donated small amounts, collectively teams have made big differences to the charities that are important to them. Winning an Award allows you to thank your staff and pensioners and make everyone feel good about being part of the Pennies from Heaven scheme.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for small and large organisations to share their success of Pennies from Heaven and demonstrate their commitment to CSR engagement. Pennies from Heaven is accessible and affordable to everyone and that’s why this year we keep our Award standards at the highest level to be accredited in the fundraising sector. With some of our members exceeding 60% participation we may have to consider raising the bar again next year! The Awards provide a way to celebrate success and share best practice with other organisations and remain a highlight of my year.” Kate Frost CEO Pennies from Heaven.

Platinum Awards will be given to employers with over 40% of staff/pensioners participating in the scheme, Gold Awards to those with 20% participating, Silver Awards to those with 15% participating and Bronze Awards to those with 10% participating. We will also be giving our Chairman’s Award to the organisation we feel has gone the extra mile in terms of promoting the scheme. Last year we recognised 41 Awards with 1 in 5 winners achieving take up rates over 40%. We hope 2020 proves just as successful. Entry is free and open to every Pennies from Heaven member.

Here’s how some of our 2019 Award winners felt:

“Aldi UK is delighted to receive a Gold Award from Pennies from Heaven recognising the generous donations Aldi colleagues make to our charity partner, Teenage Cancer Trust. Since the scheme launched in June 2018, staff have donated over £31,000, proving pennies really do add up. We hope the scheme continues to grow in popularity and would recommend Pennies from Heaven to any organisation looking for a simple charitable giving scheme.”
Fritz Walleczek. Managing Director of Corporate Responsibility. ALDI UK

“It’s incredibly special to know so many Trust staff see the benefit of having a charity which supports the hospitals, and who feel moved to support us by making a monthly donation. “Of course, we’re always grateful for every donation, but having a regular source of income like this helps us plan for the future. We’re so pleased the Pennies from Heaven scheme has been and continues to be successful.”
Donna O’Reilly. Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Charity

“As a company we love our CSR activities including community and fundraising events. PFH is a brilliant and simple way to get everyone involved and make a big difference with minimal financial impact on take home pay.  It is great to see how much we can raise without even thinking about it.  Since we launched the scheme in 2018, we have seen participation increase and winning the Award will only increase engagement further. Such a fantastic initiative.”
Karen Bateman. Gattaca PLC.

“We are delighted to be given this award, Pennies from Heaven has been smooth to implement from start to finish with fantastic communication and support throughout. It has proven to be a great introduction to payroll giving for our staff and the fund matching has meant we can double the figures for our company charity My Shining Star”
One Savings Bank PLC

“As an NHS organisation who is committed to supporting our national Charity Partner, Bloodwise, we are very pleased to have achieved a Pennies from Heaven Bronze Award. We’ve incorporated registration as part of our welcome day for new starters which has helped to increase our participation in the scheme and actively have Charity Representatives in our centres to support colleagues with joining. We will continue support a national charity as a continued priority, and will make Pennies From Heaven a part of that process.” Graham Bowditch. NHS Blood and Transplant

*Participation calculated using the average donation from the last three donation payments paid to charities in 2019. If less than three payments received than average calculated from those. It is assumed a 50p average donation per month per employee. Only employers providing accurate staff numbers are entered in the Awards.
